IQN second edition in Fort-Colomb was a nice evening !

Three new teams were playing on tuesday 23 of march : Mosaic cake, Kul team and Wolnosc ('Freedom' in Polish). Some of the players were here for the second time but we had also a few newcomers.

Again we had questions about habits and traditions in the world, but also a bit of geography (longest river in Europe ?), a bit of music (what is a blue note ?), a bit of health (AIDS question) and more !

Experience interculturality in a nice kawiarni !

Two innovations were introduced this time :

 - Questions with no proposed answers : it makes it a bit harder because only one team, the one which is closest to the correct answer, will get the point for those questions. It can only makes it more exciting !

- MUSIC ! Yes, music during the 40 sec. of collective brainstorming that you have to find the correct answer. It allows you to know exactly when your time is elapsed, but it is also useful so that the other teams don't hear your guessing discussions. During the last IQN, players had the pleasure to (re)discover a german brass-band named Mardi Gras BB which I love so much !

If you have any suggestion about the music that you want me to play - specially if it's a bit funky - just bring it with you next time !

The game was hard but in the end, it is the MOSAIC CAKE team that won !

...and they had the pleasure to receive a huge chocolate bunny !

Hi people !

This first edition of the Intercultural Quizz Night was a success !

Thirty people gathered in the Fort-Colomb Pub. Each of them competed harshly in teams during 2 hours and 20 questions.

All the participants had the chance to have an introductory presentation of the history of the fortifications of Poznan by Piotr, our Master in History.

Some questions were tricky (suicides, stinky fruit), some bizarre (insects in Mexico ?), some amazing (higher plant in the world) and one had a false answer : the colour of the letter "l" from Google is GREEN, not Blue as it was said.

And the winners are :

The Charlie's Angels !

Intercultural Quizz Night n°1 - Tuesday 2nd March 2010 - Fort-Colomb

First Quizz next week : be prepared !

You will be welcomed in a nice pub, in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere of this old Fort from the XIXth century. All drinks are available there and a special room has been reserved for you.

You will play the Quizz in international teams. You can organize yourselves in teams before coming or feel free to join one directly there. NO NEED TO SUBSCRIBE BEFORE : just join us !

The questions will concern every aspects of our cultures : customs and habits, traditions, environment, politics, values, cuisine, music... They will be displayed on a large screen and everything will be in ENGLISH.

The aim is to LEARN and to have FUN altogether !!!

EVERYONE is welcome but also asked to be PUNCTUAL in order to start in time.

What is it all about ?

"Sounds great!" could be a nice reaction from you reading this blog,

"But what do you mean by Quiz (also written Quizz with double "z") ?"

Let's try to make as simple as possible :

As put by my best friend Wikipedia "A quiz is a form of game or mind sport in which the players (as individuals or in teams) attempt to answer questions correctly." It as been popularised by the world famous table-game named "Trivial-Pursuit".

But here we will deal with another version of the quiz, which is very popular in UK : the Pub Quiz. My best friend would say : "A pub quiz is a quiz held in a public house" : as simple as it is !

"OK!" you will tell me, "but what the hell is an intercultural quiz?"

The intercultural part means that you will have questions of all different kinds about culture, but obviously also about other cultures than yours. The aim is to develop an international culture and to give you something new to share with your family/friends/neighbours/pets and others people on this planet you may know... or not.
